Can the products you sell change the world?
At First Look Social, we’re obviously highly focused on social media generally, and Instagram in particular. One of the things we really love about being in this business is that so many people are using social media platforms to effect change in the world. From money-raising campaigns to finding homes for homeless dogs, we see social media used for good all the time. It’s actually rather heartwarming in a world can often seem a little too cold for our tastes.
One related trend that we’re also enjoying is businesses that are using the popularity of their brands to make the world a better place. Of course, the original player in this field is probably Tom’s Shoes. You remember Tom’s. From the company’s inception, they have donated a pair of shoes to needy people around the world for every pair of shoes they sell in retail shops or online. They’ve since gone on to do all sorts of charitable work and work for social justice around the world.
What we’d love to see next is a marriage of these two ideas. We would love to help our clients help the world by using Instagram to promote products that give back to those in need. Since many of our clients work in and around the Cannabis industry, we thought we’d focus this article on Cannabis-related brands that our Cannabis-retail clients can promote via Instagram. Not only can this kind of promotion build your business, it can actually do a lot of good for this world we live in.
All of the Cannabis nerds out there likely already know Goldleaf. The company is best known for selling high-end journals that people can use to track, record, and analyze the Cannabis strains they use. What many people may not know, however, is that Goldleaf contributes heavily to programs that help U.S. veterans get reintegrated into society.
#2: JuJu Royal
One of the nicest things about JuJu Royal is that it is a nationally-distributed brand with intense star-power behind it. Founded by Bob Marley’s son, Julian, the company dedicates a percentage of every sale to the Weed for Warriors project. According to the foundation’s website, Weed for Warriors, “is a social justice lifestyle brand supporting holistic rehabilitation for veterans through community-based projects, proactive care advocacy, cannabis education, and compassion.”
Tokeactivity is an events business that can be promoted by any Cannabis retailer. Tokeactivty, which is based out of Oregon, hosts female-centered Cannabis events nationwide. Among other things, they help women find work and attend online classes. Best of all, a portion of the money they make goes to support women-positive organizations like Planned Parenthood.
#4: Aster Farms
Aster Farms is a particular favorite of ours – mainly because they started a highly successful give-back program that was heavily promoted via Instagram. The company, which is based out of Northern California, was greatly impacted by the state’s recent wildfires. Consequently, they now donate $2.00 from every purchase to help the volunteer fire departments in their local community.
#5: Bloom Farms
Finally, another of our favorite Cannabis companies is another California business known as Bloom Farms. For every purchase of a Bloom Farms product, the company donates a meal to a hungry person. So far, they’ve donated over 1.5 million meals. Now that’s a company we can get behind.
